Gibson’s 2019 lineup encompasses a number of Les Paul models, but the Classic is arguably one of the most stunning yet understated designs on offer.
With its timeless finish, classy cream binding and zebra Burstbucker pickups, this instrument will appeal to traditionalists and contemporary players alike. The Gibson USA 2019 Les Paul Classic provides iconic tones, a legendary look and the unmistakable Gibson feel.
This gorgeous guitar features Gibson’s signature tonewood combinations. With a Mahogany back, you can expect those focused lows and a rich mid-range, with the Maple top adding some crucial top-end sizzle.
With the body weight-relieved using Gibson’s renowned 9-hole method, this subtle chambering gives the instrument more resonance and projection, letting you attain an open sound with a broader frequency response.
Paired with a set Mahogany neck, this long-established type of construction gives the Les Paul its famed never-ending sustain. Adorned with a silky smooth Rosewood fingerboard, you can effortlessly glide up and down the neck, especially with the modern Slim Taper neck profile.
In true LP style, the Gibson USA 2019 Les Paul Classic features a pair of potent-sounding Burstbucker humbuckers. With the 61T and 61R versions in the bridge and neck positions respectively, these powerful pickups emit a strong and vibrant upper mid-range, akin to that of a traditional PAF.
Versatile enough for a number of styles, these vintage-inspired pickups can sound warm and airy with clean settings, but they also deliver plenty of bite when used in conjunction with overdriven or distorted sounds.
You can easily manipulate the sounds of the pickups via their dedicated volume and tone pots, but there’s some clever circuitry hidden beneath the surface. With all controls boasting a push-pull function, the volume knobs allow you to coil-tap the humbuckers, meaning that you can capture convincing single-coil sounds.
The tone knobs give you even more flexibility, with one of them engaging a pure bypass mode that removes the tone circuits from your signal, for a purer, unrestrained top-end. The other tone control can be pulled to give you a sweet out-of-phase sound, which works particularly well with clean tones.
