Vintage-inspired from headstock to strap pin, the Fender Custom Shop ’57 Telecaster Journeyman Relic comes loaded with looks, tone, and feel inspired by the Tele’s golden era. This 6-string starts with an incredibly resonant and lightweight slab of 2-piece select ash for the body, paired with a 1-piece quarter-sawn maple neck for plenty of treble-infused snap.

Some of this guitar’s vintage-defying features are its 9.5-inch radius and narrow-tall frets — specs that even Sweetwater’s most fanatical vintage experts feel supply a slightly more modern-feeling playing experience that’s incredibly conducive toward upper-fret bends and smooth, low action. Plus, two Custom Shop hand-wound ’58 Telecaster pickups provide a plethora of rich vintage-style single-coil tones on tap, from rounded-over warmth on the neck to time-tested twang on the bridge.

It’s all topped off with an array of retro appointments, including old-school Fender slotted tuners, a vintage barrel-saddle Telecaster bridge, a single-ply parchment pickguard, and a masterful Journeyman Relic finish for a worn-in feel from first strum.

Located midway between the darker Tele tones of the 1960s and the brighter twang of the 1950s, Fender Custom Shop Hand-wound ’58 masterfully replicates one of the Tele’s most sonically exciting periods. Whether you’re after country-approved twang or dark, moody jazz tones, these pickups deliver in spades. Plus, in true era-accurate fashion, each pickup is crafted using the same parts and components that would have graced a true 1958 Tele straight off of Leo Fender’s Fullerton factory line.
